Biography

Chamyne Fortune Thompson is a native Mobilian, Born and Raised in the Toluminville Community and a Longtime Resident. A woman of Faith, single mother, and servant leader Chamyne has spent over 25 years of her 34 years of life helping others.

A Community advocate and leader in Public Service as a Facility Supervisor for Dotch Community Center in District 1 and other community centers within the City Of Mobile Parks and Recreation Department. Chamyne has followed in the footsteps of her late Grandmother Mrs. Floretta P. Fortune being a advocate and a voice for the citizens of District 1 and the City of Mobile.

Since she was a little girl Chamyne would work along side her grandmother Mrs. Floretta P. Fortune who started the 1st Senior Citizens program in the Mobile Parks & Recreation Department collecting cans and taking them to be recycled off Highway 45 to pay for groceries to feed the seniors weekly meals. She would also go to the community center with her grandmother and tutor her peers and teach them basic computer skills at Gorgas which is now Figures Community Center.

Chamyne has a passion for serving all people and a heart for youth, seniors, single parent families and those with disabilities. With a servant heart she helps everyone that she can. Serving All Mankind like she pledge in 2006 when she became a Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Edward Waters College in 2008 and traveling back and forth from Mobile, AL to Gainesville, GA with her mother and new born son to get her degree as a Single mother; Chamyne received her Master of Sciences Degree in Organizational Leadership from Brenau University and returned home to Mobile with her son Bryan and begin working and serving in her community.
As a passionate community leader and advocate Chamyne has focused on community development and programming for youth, adults, and seniors and advocated for economic development, entrepreneurship, public health & safety and affordable housing and homeownership.
